Default Jdm gsr rev/vtec issues

Ok so I have a 1999 civic hx (original owner) everything on the car is original parts, I had

someone do the swap for me I put a 1997 jdm gsr in it (average 50,000 miles on motor)

and for some reason they used the single cam wiring harness? The issue its having is when I half throttle till it goes into vtec and then I punch it the rpms sputter like brrrrrr br bbrr brrr brr brrr and it doesnt seem to wanna rev up? Also my rpm guage bounces all weird.

The only thing that isnt stock is the exhaust and I have a fuel pressure regulator, with

the gas turned up a bit. I checked the engine codes and it threw a knock sensor and a

lower O2 sensor. The check engine light is also on. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED (PM ME PLEASE) THANKS GUYS!!

It could be the distributor for sure, also unless your running a chipped ecu knock sensor has to be working otherwise Vtec wont engage. When running a chipped ecu knock sensor can be disabled.

ignition control module.... 30 dollars cheaper at napa than advance or autozone... napa all the way and they will actually work with you on prices.
