cooling porblems on B16...II
Replace with a thermostat from Acura, don't use NAPAQ or Discount stuff.
Replace the water temp sensor, it is the nipple looking plug on the side of the head that is removed with a long 12mm socket. I've seen them go bad and give false reading before. All of them are the same so just find one off of almost any Honda.

No I just meant a genuine Honda thermostat. If you already have one then good. Try the temp sensor.

When you felt the radiator hoses, were they pressureized? The hoses should be under pressure after the engine is at operating temp. Other wise the radiator cap may be bad or you may be low on coolant or have a leak somewhere. Also you said that you could hear the radiator boiling? If that is the case then the guage is probably not wrong. It is probably over heating. If the upper hose was noticible hotter than the lower hose then you may have a clogged radiator. Also check for any excessive bubbles in the radiator with the cap off and engine running. This may indicate a blown head gasket or worse.

The water was "boiling" back into the overflow. The radiator is 2 weeks old and the hoses were presurized. Headgasket? I recently did a comp. check 190-180-180-190 and there is no indication of oil in the coolant or vice-versa. Are there any other indicators of a blown headgasket?...and what do you mean by "worse"? By the way, since the original post, the car has been running very well and the temp. guage hasn't moved beyond normal temp
