Default Steering Problems

I have a 88 hb. This just happend. But when I go to turn my wheel when iam driving of making uturn it makes a clunking sound. Its not a loud clunk noise its only when iam turning. Its not my cv's or axles cause i looked at all that and I didnt see any tears or anything that looked wrong. Somone told me it could be my rakect or pinion or something I dont know. I go to steer and it kinda delays in turning. Its kinda scary cause I dont want it to get worse. I think, but seems that turning to the right is easier then then turning to the left. Could someone give me a good idea of what they think is wrong.

Well first thing I would do is see if the "clunk" is speed dependent, meaning does the noise increase the faster you turn. If it does, it's not the steering rack, otherwise troubleshoot the tierods next since you have said that it easier in one direction than the other.
