you most certanly can its not a overall HP gain but it will give you a notciable power ban increase its all in the way the head was made as in the Y8 tends to circulate the A/F around oposed to just dumpin it in like the stock z6 head i have been wanting to change my D16z6 head for the Y8 for some time now but I lack the funds and the time to do it.....but if you have the opertunity to I would as well as change out the rods and pistons you can use the rods out of the ZC and the pistions from a 90-91 teg for better comprestion and androds for better hp handling
I hope this helps you out a little

Well I have LC JE pistons (9:1) and I need a block that can use them.
I was quoted $60 to do all four cylinders... So I may just rip the block out tonight, drop it off with them tomorrow and I'll have it back by thursday ready to go, and hot tanked for another 50...
as far as rods... The one's I want are 677 bucks. So Im gonna hold off on those until I break one of mine.
Just got the head back today. It looks nice. I'll put picks up tomorrow on my website for all to see.
Still need to set the valves, which shouldn't be a problem.
When I get the money for the next rebuild, Im buying the stroker kit (brings to a 2.0L) and balancing the whole motor.
That should take care of reliability problems, and we'll see how a boosted 2.0L SOHC VTEC motor runs.
Should be interesting. =P

(the 88-on D16 rods are weaker)
they are beefier than most of the SOHC D16 rods, and will fit right in.
i dont think the 90-91 teg pistons will fit as the bore size is much larger than the D16.
the 90-91 teg have an 81mm bore and the D16s have a 75mm bore.
use the pistons out of an 88-89 integra (factory 9.5:1 compression)
the D16Z6 and D16Y8 both have a smaller combustion chamber volume than the D16A1, so 88-89 integra pistons will boost compression nicely.
