Thumbs down block and head combo question.......

im wanting to know if this combo is worth the effort. b20 block with ls (a1) head.my understanding is b20 has more torque as ls has more top end power. i havent gone as far as getting specs of each ( bore, stroke valve size, ect...). car has light mods consisting of full exhaust, cai, blox intake mani, 63mm tb, chipped ecu. exploring my options.

honestly the LS head isn't worth putting any money or time into unless you were in a stock autocross or road race class and were going within the rules for building the engine. it doesn't flow well as it really was designed for economy, not even a port and polish will do much for it.

if you want to do a B20 block then spend the money to get a B16 head and put the money into the head. i can't speak enough of the power made from putting the money into the right parts and labor.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

If you already have the b20 block go for the b20 vtec.

I see you are in Hollywood, FL so you are close to Stuart. There is a shop there that milled, cut the valve guide seals, and angeled valves. I cannot remember their shop name but they do all the headwork for Titan Motorsport in Orlando. I would highly recommend them to do the headwork. The price was very reasonabile as well.

As for the pnp work I have my friend David do that for me in Rockledge.

If you are interested I can get the shop name that is in Stuart for you.

LS heads are the same as the b20 head minus the p8r head which has vtec sized intake valves. The combo wont do anything special for you. No extra power will be obtained.
