B series cap and rotor...

Default B series cap and rotor...

Alright so with my ignition problems I go to change out my cap and rotor... ordered a 99 Civic SI cap and rotor a while ago and had it sitting in my tool box. I go to put it on a B18C and it doesnt fit! The rotor obvisouly fits but the cap is about an 1/8th inch off to the bolt hole. I have been told time and time again all B series VTEC distributors are the same. So WTF? Did Honda some how order me D series shit?

I actually had Honda give me the wrong cap - a OBD0 dpfi - in a box marked for my OBD0 dizzy for mpfi. Yours may be another mistake.

Not sure but was there a difference in the B Series engines dizzy's betw OBD1 and OBD2?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Dizzy is a TD87U (Type R), now while 90% of the places Ive checked said everything is fine to interchange, 1 thread says they will not interchange and that the ITR cap and rotor are in fact different. So now I have a brand new never used 99-00 Civic SI cap and rotor from Honda that is worthless to me. Ordered an ITR one.

ah Honda sometimes they do stuff like this to us.

did you call the dealer to see if they will take it back even with a restocking fee?

The ITR and civic SI are the same....You need LS or GSR....I found this out a while ago.

No it is very incorrect. The ITR uses a different sized cap and the rotor is much more "heavy duty". I was reading up and people switchd to the ITR for road racing because they kept cracking the regular ones. It is deffinately thicker and deffinately different. I have both in hand, I can take some pictures.

My neighbor brought over his 99 si dist. so i could test it on my roommates ITR. They are the same cap...

I know from experience not from reading on TR.

Then your friend has a B16/SI dizzy to go with the PR3 head. The Type R does have its own distributor and they ARE different no doubt about that. Part number, physical appearance, and the dimensions.

Go look at the code on the dizzy.
