I don't know much about non-EG Civics, but on EGs there's a plastic plug on the clutch pedal that pushes against a switch located above the pedal (sorta under the dash). When the cruise is set and working, and you push on the clutch pedal (even just a little), the switch lets out and the cruise is switched off until you push the resume button (and the clutch pedal is not being depressed).
Easier to show, harder to describe... I don't have any pics of this switch. But they may not have that on a 2001.

Refer to print
1. Switch on brake pedal dual contact(one for brake light other cruise)
2. Clutch switch bottom of print
However he is saying Master switch LED is not working either, you know like its not getting power....hmmm

In my early morning stupor I forgot to mention the culprit of what I was addressing: the plastic plug on the clutch pedal can deteriorate or break, meaning the switch is no longer being pushed in by the clutch pedal. There is also such a plastic plug on the brake pedal, which makes the brake lights go off and allows the cruise control to work. I think BoostedRacerDad was just saying this in his post...
The CC had stopped working on my Sol a while ago. Funny enough the brake pedal plug broke sometime after, and that was how I found out why CC stopped working. The problem was the plastic plug I mentioned... you can ghetto fix it by taping a coin to the pedal plate where the plug goes, or get a nut & bolt and adjust it to push in that switch.
