Is the B16 really as they say?
I see alot of conflicting opinions. Some say the B16A is a great little motor, others say it's a torqueless motor that only has good top-end. Others say that the amazing top end of the B16 makes it feel torqueless in the low end. And others say it's like a D16 until about 4000rpm, then it rips.
Is it really that torqueless/is the high-end really as great as people make it out to be?

IMO people who dog b16's don't know what they're doing... Yes, they lack torque compared to a ls or a gsr, but they're still great motors... It really depends on your goals and what you want to do with the car, that will determine whether or not you would be satisfied with a b16

It's a great engine, when paired with the correct trans low end won't be an issue. When I run my gears out I stay in the big lobe. I personally like all the dohc vtec engines Honda has produced...well with the exception of the ep3 and non type s dc5's.

It pretty much is a D16 until 4000RPM. IMO its worlds better than a D, but lacks some serious power compared to what a 1.8L + DOHC can make. FI or NA it just isnt there because of the displacement. The only benefit I see is costs, you can get a full swap fairly cheap. If your not too power crazed its great. Plus a B16B can be revved to the moon very easily lol.
I like mine. Its not that dogish lower RPM, I has more get-up then my buddys d series for sure. That was one issue I was worried about when I bought my Si, but its not too bad at all. They do wake up around 4k.

They are still more advanced than a B series and have the potential for way more power. All you have to do is swap pistons and run a factory-parts VTEC killer setup, then it will walk damn near every B20VTEC.

any motor can run like dogshit. Its not just the motor. A b16 with the correct mods can ride. I just personally would never spend money on one, considering Bseries part go for the low nowadays!
