I had a ls swapped 94 coupe not too long ago. For mild gains do Intake, Header, Exhaust and hit up pherable.net and have your ECU chipped and tuned. with those mods I was able to beat a b16 swapped crx. you will be looking at around 160 hp at the crank.

If you have the extra money add in a intake manifold, adjustable cam gears, light weight pulley set and a earth ground kit (you can make 1 with 4 gauge speaker wire) and you will have a decent powered ls that will be very reliable.

I am going to do a comp test when i get home, and if it is in fact needy, i think i will just end up getting a swap for it. I really wanna do an h22 swap. I had a buddy that did one and that car was amazing.
hell if you wanna go h22. go h2b. that type r tranny you have will be gold in that setup. imo...

nitrous is the way to go but you will still have to upgrade your injectors and fuel pump and put a cold air intake but if you want to have a little something...get a better ecu (chipped)

^how much would you guys say a tune would be with all of the bolt ons? at a reputable shop that is. And im looking into the jdm h22 swap. I dont care much about balance, i wont be auto crossing or anything, i just want reliability and comfort and plenty of power on tap when i want it. And what all intake mainfolds can i use on my ls motor? Is there factory ones that work good or would i have to go aftermarket?
And ive never even heard of an earth ground kit, lol...
thanks again guys.

I wouldn't waste $$ on a h22 the b18b will provide plenty of power for what you want at half the hassle.

I'm pretty sure you can you use any b series intake manifold (ex: type-r), but for the price just pick up a skunk 2.

Hit up phearable.net they sell chipped ecu's and will also tune your car. I personally bought my b18b chipped ecu from them and was very pleased with the purchase.

A earth ground kit is basically fatter cables for the oem grounds. It's said you can gain power...i'm not sure about that, but it just stabilizes the electrical components
here's a pic. Notice the red arrow:

^really? i always thought the h series would provide more easy power.
and how does it work getting a flashed ecu?
do you just tell them what all you did or something and they burn you a chip?

The H22a has 200 hp but the cost of swapping it in and pain in the ass isn't worth it. I would rather go for a GSR swap for a little more $$

you just tell them what mods you have and what you plan on adding and they'll will tune the ecu (increase air fuel ratio, up rev limiter, etc). They will actually solder the chip into your ecu that can be flashed with various engine management systems

A H22 swap isn't that much.
H2B and H2D swaps can be done for less than $4000.
200hp+, good tranny, new-ish motor, great potential (more than a b-series). Why not?
If you could keep AC with a H2D, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Still for what the OP wants $4k is too much. It would be cheaper to boost his ls motor and it would make waaaaaay more power than a H22 and also it would be lighter.

OP just do the simple bolt ons I was telling you about and get your ecu chipped/tuned by phearable (they are local) and you will beat b16 swapped civics all day (I know b/c I used to all the time)
check out the comparison below:

right off the bat the LS motor has more tq and with simple bolt ons and a reflash you will have no problems hitting 170 hp at the crank
