what happened here (pics)
please help me diagnose what happened here
this is off of my friends jdm/first gen b16 engine
it jsut died on him when accelerating (not hard either)...pulled the plugs and this is what i saw (this is the only one that looked like this)
when we looked down the spark plug hole all we saw was one chewed up cylinder....we also turned the engine over with all the plugs out and it sounded smooth
so what do you all think happened???

Just by looking at those sparg plugs, it looks like part of the valve broke and the piston pushed against the combustion chamber damaging the spark plug.
The only way to see how much damage was assesed is to pull the head out and inspect each chamber and each correspondent cylinder. Just because the engine rotates smooth doesn't mean the cylinder walls are scrached to hell or even the head is messed up.
And I hate to say it but it doesn't look good.
