Best D-series block?
I am attempting a motor swap in an older car. I have pretty much rulled out the B-series as being able to fit. I will probably be stuck using a SOHC D-series due to lack of depth in the engine compartment and mating it to an 89-91 Si tranny. What is the best block to build for an all motor (no room for turbo or supercharger) and possibly nitrous setup? What VTEC head would be best?? I am planning on wiring the car as ODB1 inorder to use a P28 or Hondata. If I can fit the 90-93 Teg DOHC D-series into the car would it be better than the single cam?
d15 bottom d16 head = all motor madness

someone told me a z6 bottom end and a y8 head was putting down 124whp stock...not sure about it cause i havent seen it before but if anyone has some input on it (it was in a 90 hf crx) i know the d16z6 has 125 but i dont believe thats to the wheels

the d15 bottom ends have a better rod/stroke ratio and with a z6 or y8 vtec head the compression ratio will be slightly increased. this is what makes up for the difference in displacement.
for obd0 vehicles i'd go with a zc over a mini-me. the swap is easier and they have more potential because of their dohc design.

yes, a zc has more potential because it has dual over head cams and although the aftermarket support is limited its much better suited for turbo. my dad has a zc and i have had several d16z's and there really isn't any comparison in my mind. yes, the zc doesn't have vtec, but for obd0 cars i think its a much better option.
The car is currently carburated so I will just wire it for what will work best (ODB0, ODB1) and I don't have room for a turbo unless I want it sticking through the radiator and front grill. The motor in the car was an old E-series in which the intake and exaust are both on the backside of the head. I am unsure if I can fit a SOHC let alone the deeper DOHC. Will the 90-93 Teg motor bolt to an 89-91 SI tranny? I see that motor refered to as a ZC but some people say it will not bolt up to the Si tranny and you have to get the JDM ZC to bolt up.
