Default Air intake question

I have a 99 civic Ex and I was wondering if I should order a short ram intake or a cold air intake, its just I dont want hydro lock which I heard happens with the cold air ones, I'm not really doing it for a power adder but more just to get better MPG

Suggestions ?

I'll ask him and see. I saw some DIY intakes that sometimes are better than factory ones.

Most intakes increase power (and sometimes gas milage) by reducing restriction in the intake. Eliminating the rubber hose, baffles, and crappy-ish stock airfilters and replacing it with smooth aluminum and high flow filters improves performance slightly. More expensive peices like AEM's are tuned-length intakes on top of the above.

I saw a 2-3mpg decrease going back to stock from my ebay short ram/autozone filter. And a bit of throttle response went away, but after I changed my plugs (and fixed the vc oil leak), I didn't notice a differance at all.
