Default AEM Air Bypass Valve

A couple of people at a local performance/audio shop have suggested I install an AEM air bypass valve; along with some friends. The thing is that some of my friends told me it might not be worth it if I am careful. I would loose about two horses if I were to add this I was told. Any help is much appreciated.

well if it floods and u go through a deep puddle and submerge your filter then it will suck up water and mess up your engine. so spending what 40 bucks for the bybass vs a new engine. ive seen it happin before, also it only opens when the filter is submerged so it shouldn't take away hp, but if it does its prolly worth it.
good luck hope i could help you out a little bit

Thanks for the reply blackbean92. The reason (supposedly) you loose two horses is because you have to cut the pipe in half. AEM says you will only loose one, but I have been told by almost everyone you loose two to three horses. I thought I would argue with myself over bigger mods, heh. Thanks again.

You will never notice a loss of one or two HP. Just do it for the safety and well being of your car.

I know I will not notice 1-2 loss in HP, but I am still loosing that 1-2 HP so I will probably notice it in my head, heh. It rains every day here so I am glad the parking lots at work don't flood. I think common sense will keep me safe until I decide to get one or not. XIntegraRyu77X, I drive a 2000 Honda Civic SI.

Ok it depends if you gotta short-ram or a CAI... My CAI goes down towards the right wheel.

You probably have the same cold air intake I do. The tubing is about three inches and goes down toward the right wheel.
