Default 93 civic fuel issue

Ok, so i have narrowed it down(process of elimination and replacing parts already) to being the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator as to why my car is running like poo. Weird (very low) idle, spit-n-sputtering acceleration, light backfiring (running a lil rich IMO)...etc.

My question is:

If you upgrade from a stock fuel pump, lets say to a walpro 255lph or something similar, do you have to upgrade the injectors/rail as well?

I am wanting the best bang for the buck and am looking online and have found some better deals than the local auto parts stores...the kicker being they are mostly upgrades from the stock fuel pump. I am not looking to sink a ton of money into the car as it is only a DD. But i do want it to be as reliable as possible, as it gets me to 2 jobs and school. Any info will help and i thank you.

Vehicle is 93 Civic DX A/T 1.5l JDM Fuel injected converted.

no, no other upgrades are needed for a 255.
