which is more economical?
Just throwing this out there, is it better to buy a car that has already been modified to what you are looking for or building your own project car?
At the moment I have an EF civic. I love this car, but would I be better off saving the extra cash and buying another EF modified to what I wanted as an end result rather then building my current EF up?
If this helps clarify, I am building my current EF an LS swap and running 10 or so psi. Something that I can have fun with but still be a daily driver.
Post your thoughts.

Buy modified, but expect to spend some time (and possibly a little money) figuring out how the car was built.

agree 100%
I think of modifiyng hondas like a hobby not an investment because when you sell it you wont get half of it back.
so yes buy modified

Build you own.
In so doing you will know EXACTLY what you have and it will be EXACTLY to your preferences. You'll also learn throughout the process. Anyone can buy a modified car, but few can build a proper car.
EF is a great chasis and a great canvas to paint upon. Build and take pride in your creation and the product of YOUR hands.

You already have a DD with no known problems except needs more HP.correct?
I would write down exactly what you want Ls/ turbo A/c ps or Ls/Vtec and start obtaining parts. This way you can get the best parts for your money. Why settle for a ebay turbo setup when you can piece together a presicion turbo setup. Since you already have a DD you can take your time and you will learn alot. Just my $.02

this. It's way cheaper to buy modded, but the unknown sucks. I've had both. Right now the car I'm building was 100% factory and stock. It's costing me a fortune but I love knowing thats what I'm doing is my work and if something fucks up its on me.
thats why i ended up getting an automatic because people dont really abuse them , and you can always to a tranny swap

I bought an automatic car. I wish it were manual because it was a pain in the ass and was work that could have been avoided when I changed it to manual. Car was real clean though and not the over used word clean, interior was 10/10 and interior was like a 8/10? So much easier to just buy manual but w/e your right usually automatics arent abused or even modded. What does taking a motor to 9k as often as you go to the bathroom have to do with a car being beat? Trust me if you had a motor that was built to withstand it, you'd be wrapping out the tach more than you go to the bathroom lol.
