Default zc motor question--look please(crazy vtec zc build

new to the old school engine..


i wanna take a zc shortblock and install z6 head and make it vtec boosted.

now.

what headgasket do i use

what studs

will there be problems with oil ports meeting or not getting to the head or bottom end.

tranny do i use to fit into a civic with Zc as my bottom end

not that i really want to help you,but im guessing you have the Expensive sohc jdm Zc motor and not the dohc right?cause if so your Z6 or Y8 had is not going to work

So Friendly,not Sure I Will Find Out Tonight,(it Just Says Zc On It Nothing Elts,, So You Tell Me.... WAS JUST GONNA BUY ANOTHER ENGINE FOR MY BUILD BUT MINE AS WELL USE THE MOTOR I HAVE IF I COULD USE IF NOT NO BIG.

If your "ZC" block is DOHC then mating a SOHC VTEC head is a no go. If your "ZC" block was origianlly SOHC then it came with VTEC head from Honda. Get a Z6 head gasket and check if they allign properly. All ZC engines are compatible with D-series transmissions. Hope you work it all out!

thanks.. the head that came on the motor looked like a d15b8 head so this means its a sohc.. and i can use this block right.

It should have come VTEC from the factory, but the best test is trying to line up the head gasket. Load up the block and haul it down to the parts house, or bring your old one in and compare them. For more information, check out D-series forums or ZC forums.
