Default advice b18b 94 civic

hello everybody.i have a 94 civic dx with a b18b1 motor in it. it has aftermarket headers and an spectre intake.

i bought the car about 2 weeks ago
the problem i am having is with im assuming my fuel parts because at random times i will be pushing on the gas the motor will still be pulling as if i wasnt pushing on it.then it will take off like i floored it and the sputter and either jerk forward again or it will start to slow down again. the end result is me jerk down the road for a min or 2 and then will run fine for five or ten mins and then it will happen again.when i stop and it happens an im just sitting there on it will stay at about 500 rshared_pm and then will go up to 1000 and drop almost to zero and then go back up and do the same. if i press on the gas while in neutral the rpms will rise as normal but when i let go of the gas it drops quickly, and almost to zero. it ride normal 80% of the time. but the other 20% is as described above.

so far i have
changed the spark plugs and spark plug wire( a little bit of oil residue in the 2nd cyinder)
changed air filter( it was filthy)
changed the fuel filter(also filthy)
had a complete fuel system cleaning from tire kingdom..

people at advance auto suggested my MAP senor but at 83 dollar i would like to make sure thats the problem before replacing.
if anyone could help in any way it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for lookin
nyk

The a-parts place checks codes for free.......a-zone gives you a print out of all the codes. What did the codes say?

You might get an IACV from LKQ for far less than the $83 if you pull it off a car yourself.

What was the last thing you did to the engine before the problem showed up?.....or has it had the problems since you got the car?

Frustrating.....won't run right....I offered some things to try to make the car run better. It's acting like a vacuum leak is causing the computer to open/close the throttle, which affects the vacuum leak, which affects the throttle...and so on....

Did you put on a new gasket with the intake?

Spraying WD40 all over the carb/intake/manifold/gaskets, etc.
will usually make things get better temporarily if there is a vacuum leak.....

A lot of people have problems with the main relay this time of year... They like to get sticky when it's hot out.
