Dome light doesnt turn off when doors are shut

I have a 2000 civic lx sedan. When I close my doors, the dome light wont turn off automatically. I personally like the feature, so you can see if your going to sit on anything at night. I checked the bulb and its perfectly fine. No fuses blown either. Is there a way to check my door switches? If its not the switches, what else could it be?

isnt there a switch on the light ? should have 3 settings, on , off , and auto (turns on/off when doors open/shut)

how did you check the bulb ?

lol. I know that the switch is working fine and is in fact on the auto setting. The light works fine. Just doesn't turn off when I shut my doors.

Look in your jams and the black switch should come off with a couple screws. Sometimes the contacts get dirty. Clean it off with a pencil eraser or some contact cleaner, and put a small amount of contact grease on it. Hopefully that solves your issue.
