For an eg shell and a d series vtec engine. I'm really bored and need a cheap project.

Too many factors on the shell. You can pick up a complete long block d series motor for a couple hundred bucks.

totally stock unmolested on stock wheels that is mint would fetch more then 1k

add in other factors like GOOD suspension, swap ready etc can 2k+

but its not hard to find pretty clean ones in the 500-1k range
