Default vibration/grinding question??

I have a 2000 prelude, for the last day or so when the car is between 2800 and 3000 rpms its making a sound like metal dragging on the ground " but not everytime, or unless i rev it up fast in neutral". i took the cat off and checked the heat shield but still making the same noise. any help would be great thanks!!

have u got someone else to push the throttle while you look under your car ??? i cant think of anything that would only hit the ground during 2800-3000??? you say its like a scraping noise and not a rattle correct ???
if you cant see anything from under the car try popping the hood and takin a look ..

I had my friend push the throttle and it was making the sound at the headers from under the car. I would push up on the headers and the sound would stop, so I removed then retightened the flang bolt that holds the header to the bottom of the car. the sound stopped for a day then returned.

tighten them more and use Loctite (sp.) the bolts should stay tight.
