NA D16s are hilariously slow. Mine put 111hp to the wheels. Forced induction is the best power to money ratio, but the D16Y8 has issues with oiling the main crank bearings, so its advisable to port/polish the oil pump to avoid spinning your #4 crank bearing.

TurboD16.com, homemadeturbo.com, and honda-tech have a lot of info on single cam builds.

It can be done cheaper than most other engines, but its expensive to do it wrong the first time, because then you have to do it again, and you look completely retarded.

Alternatively, you can get a b-series pretty cheap, they're much better to build for NA or FI, though I still wouldn't recommend NA. They also pretty much bolt in to other hondas. I had a B18C R-spec for a couple years and I always stood up for NA engines, now I have a twin turbo V6 and I'll never look back. Check out the sites I mentioned and if you can afford it go FI.

The B20 is torquey. It doesn't make massive power, but its better than a D series. And its cheap as all get out.

Just dont plan on making a ton of power on the b20. NA, sure, FI, need sleeves.

Also, d-series.org and onecamonly.com

Haha, well that is one. But the y8 has a similar but different head, different crank oiling and oil pump, as well as oil pan and intake manifold.
