Default 99 civic si clutch

I am a proud owner of a 1999 Civic Si today, Its a nice car, but the clutch is a pain. The car has 110,000 original miles on the clock, and it has an aftermarket clutch, forgot what brand though. Anyways there is very little play between the clutch being engaged and disengaged. Like between 1/2" or so. Its SMALL! Its going to suck on hills for sure.

Are aftermarket clutches like that normaly? Anything I can do to give me a little more room in the clutch??

Anyone? Its hard to explain, but it goes from no grab to full grab between a 1/2" or so.

Sorry man, not quite what I mean.

Let me try to explain. You know if you push the clutch all the way down its completely disengaged, they as you slowly let out of the peddle the clutch starts to grip.... thats where I am talking about.

Once I start letting out of the clutch, as soon as it starts to grap, there is only about 1/2" in the peddle between it being disengaged and fully engaged.

Its almost impossible to ride the clutch a little stopped on hills, because there is only 1/2".

Cause its probably a Very aggressive clutch... or a nasty pressure plate...

did previous owner say it had a stage 3 clutch or what not?

most likely an unsprung, 4 or 6 puck clutch. they are very aggressive, with basically no play. you basically just have to deal with it until its time for a new clutch, unless u wanna change it now

I will find out tomorrow, the owner said it was a $500 clutch. I am going to try and get use to it, and if I don't, I will buy something else and see if anyone wants to help with a clutch change and they keep the clutch for helping.

Well this cluth has got to go, first to days were fun, now that I want to drive somewhat sane. Why would someone put a racing clutch in a economy car?? It's far from being a race car it doesn't need a race clutch. My girl can't even get the car moving. It's a major main on hills, and even in any gear it's very snappy.

What would be a good mild clutch? Something I can drive in the city with that won't kill my left leg.

Oh and of I pull the valve cover is there any wayi can tell if there are aftermarket cams?? This thing sounds a little like a wrx sti at idle.
