you dont need any special tools. Well I guess it depends on your definition. You will NEED a feeler guage. You can pick one up at any auto parts store and most hardware stores should also have them. Also snap on sells a tool that makes it easier to do valve adjustments but its still pretty simple with just a wrench flathead and socket with ratchet.
for an ls motor the specs are smaller than most angled feeler gauges go. Sears sells a nice straight one that covers the specs and the feelers are so thin that they bend right back to straight. For the special tool I just welded a 12 mm socket to a couple of random deep sockets and welded a bolt off the side. This way you can run a screw driver through it and hold the setting in place while you tighten the locknut. Cuts time in half using this tool. Good luck.
10mm for b series vtec head
12mm for b series non-vtec head
he said it was for a 91 ls teg
Also the final torque spec is higher for an ls head and I'd highly recommend using a torque wrench since these nuts strip sorta easily and the thread pitch is really tight and hard to find replacement nuts without going to the dealer.
