Default HELP ME fix a few little Issues with my ef/wagovan

i just bought a 1990 ef/ee wagon it's auto grey on grey dpfi.

the few issues i have that i was looking for help/advice on are as follows:

*behind the cluster there is a loud squeaking noise after you hit 20mph, it is coming from the bar with the clip on the end that plugs into the back of the cluster behind the speedo/mph gauge. i took the cluster off and drove around the block and it still squeaks so i know it's not the cluster it self. the mph needle works but jumps around a bit and i think the squeaking has some all to do with that.

*on the top of my front driver side strut the rubber bushing under the center bolt is ripped, can i replace just that bushing or do i buy a whole new strut.

*the transmission jerks when shifting between 1st and 2nd a little every once and a while in others but not noticable like the 1-2.

1) Sounds like speedo cable is bad or needs to be oiled.

2) You can get just the bushing if you go to a junkyard you can find it cheap.

3) Honda auto transmissions suck. Might be able to fix it with a good flush at a service station but that will cost you around $80

custom 240sx thanks so much for the quick response

1-that is what i was thinking but didn't want to do anything without knowing for sure. how do i oil the speedo cable? what do i use?

2-do i just unbolt the top middle bolt on the top of the strut while it's still on the car or take the strut off first?

3-will try that

1. Get a helms/haynes manual...they explain.

2. Yes

3. My answer is a MIGHT...you MAY waste $80. And don't do it yourself you do not have the proper tools. They are flushed a specific way.

1- will get one today, i doubt they have one specific for wagons...
2-yes take the strut off first? or do it while it's on the car just lifted on jacks?
3- might is more then i had before the start of the thread. it's not a waste then i will know it's done and doesn't have to be done in the future.

You can pull the top bushing off without removing the strut if I remember correctly.
