hey... anyone have any idea how to tell if distributor is bad?
Today i put in new pugs new wires new distributor cap and o2 sensor and it still has trouble giving the norma amount of power for until 3.5 thousand rshared_pm. then i took out the spark plugs and they were black.. also theres litle black stuff cumin out of exaust and a lil black smoke....

sounds like it's either running rich or has alot of carbon build up. if the cars running then i think the dizzy is ok lol. but you can hook a volt meter to the positive and negative terminals on the coil and fire it over real quick to see what kind of voltage/amps your getting.

most likely it has something too do with the o2 sensor and it's telling the ECU to run richer.

im guessing o2 sensor...also check your map sensor too...i have a couple spare ones let me know.

yeah i had my girl send me a map sensor from chicago yesterday so i put it in still the same... could it be the throddle body? it lOOKS like it is glued with some clear silicon between the trodle body and intake

I dont think its going to be your throtle body, what your sein is most likely a clear rtv used when the gasket was changed.

no RTV should have been used when the gasket was put in.

Check that the proper plug is firing when the timing marks say the number one plug is at top dead center......... might remove the cap to
check it.-Bob
