92 teg ls a/t with sport mode shifting, where you can shift between 3rd and 4th with a button on the shifter...

I was driving to a friends house lastnight. Going up 75, got off the exit rounded the corner. I shifted to 3rd the rpm's jumped to about 3000 then to 4500 when i gave it gas then down to 3000 again.

Stopped at a red light, and saw smoke or steam coming out from under the hood. I got to where I was going, and looked and saw nothing wet or leaking. I've had problems with the tranny double shifting before. I think it's time for a new tranny... 228,xxx miles on it..

Are all a/t the same for the year, or are there different codes like manual trannys?

 

They might/probably have different gear ratios but it wont matter really...

I have never herd of a tranny smoking tho.

 

my accord did said smoking. check by the shift selinoids.. mine had a very slow leak that is now big..

 

I was looking at it closer with the car running, and the smoking is coming from the radiator area. I drove it back home, like 35 miles and it did just fine.
