where to get crank knife edged?

Does anyone know of a good shop to go to that will knife edge my crank? reasonable pricing too

the crank doesnt go through the oil? I guess you learn something new everyday

he wants it knife edged for less rotating mass in the motor and he already has a jun lightned flywheel. less weight = faster acceleration

How much of a gain could you possibly get from this? What are your current mods? That will pretty much tell you if you need this done. I agree with robster. In a low HP/Tq honda engine the gains are not going to be high.

I am putting together a ls block with type r pistons for a ls vtec and while I have everything apart I thought that if it didnt cost too much I might as well get this done

FYI the closer the crank is counterweighted in relation to the rod/piston and crank journal the more stable it will be at high rpms. That is why Honda made the counterweights on the typer crank heavier than that of the gsr crank even though the stroke is the same. So youll have a crank that is capable of accelerating faster but it will be more unstable and probably wear out bearings faster.
