Default Power loss through drivetrain.

Anyone know what the average Percentage of HP/TQ loss thru drivetrain on hondas are? I know it's all different but thats why i said "average". My civic dyno'd at 221hp and 186 ft/tq on 7.8 lbs. i was wondering what the flywheel HP/TQ would be.

I thought it was like 20% loss from flywheel to wheels.

Absolutely not. MAYBE a 8" converter automatic. There are complicated factors. It's not as easy as people make it sound to figure this out. If I HAD to guess with a front wheel drive manual transmission four cylinder I would say 5% - 8% on average

Really? I always figured it was closer to 12-15% and automatic front wheel was like 20% and rear wheel manual was 18-20% and rear auto was like 25%...wheels make a big difference however.

Actually I take that back saying 20% maybe a RWD or something lol. But my car comes out to around 10% drivetrain loss.

A lot of things come into play. Driveline, auto or manual, size of auto converter, actual heat in the transmission, fluid, gear friction, speed, etc. It's VERY complicated

yea this is true, but i actually meant the power loss thru a FWD manual civic. i know theres more thru an AWD. but didnt actually think about other drivetrains.

Still a lot to it. If I HAD to guess with a front wheel drive manual transmission four cylinder I would say 5% - 8% on average. It's not as much as a lot of people on here think
