Go to an exhaust shop and tell them to weld you a straight pipe piece.

i'm not sure what your saying is missing but it goes in this order coming from the head: manifold - downpipe - catalytic converter (or test pipe) - exhaust system.

Do you have a resonator? If you don't have a resonator and just weld in a piece of pipe instead of a cat, it's gonna sound shit-raspy and intelligent non-ricers will point and laugh at you.... trust me, i've pointed and laughed.
