there will always be some blow-by in engines. it does not seal 100%.

Is the motor in the car still? If so it needs a compression test.

lol cleveland u already know im a honda/engine encyclopeida.unless the engine in still in the car and fully assembled you cant do a compression test. car has to be warmed up to get accurate results . but oil will always pass by rings if you simply pour it into the cylinder. think about when you do a "wet" compression test and the number shoot up. thats because oil is passing by the rings and providing a better seal. so thats not a way to indicate if rings are good or bad.

well the thing is that the block supposedly needed rings so we bought the car it have a mis fire and the guy said it was because the ring in number 3 was gone but i dont think they are i took it apart and the number 2 piston was still shinney as hell like new
but the car drove fine besides the mis fire

the one thing i try to say is,if you think or have a doubt then replace it,rings are only about 30bucks so repllace them..its better then putting it all back together then having to take it apart

a misfire is ignition related. if the 1 cylinder wasnt even firing it cant be the cylinder that was misfiring. in my opinion. you cant really trust people's word now a days its a shame. i would re-ring the entire motor, fresh hone and bearings. than you'll know for a fact what you have.
