Default Boost, Build, or Swap?

I'll be working with a $2200 budget or so next summer. And I'm looking for a swap that will give me more power. Has to be streetable and useable though, has to be reliable (1000 miles a week), and fun.

Thought about a F2D conversion. F22's are cheap, D-tranny's are cheap. F2B kit from Bisi is $900. So for $2200 I have a rebuild engine/tranny sitting at like 150whp/150wtq. But that would need to be tuned. Not that bad, not that great though. Lots of room to grow though.

Building (Vitara + FJ Rods) a D16A6 has always apealed to me. It'll be more than $2200, but for the money I'll have a sweet little reliable motor at 250whp+. With lots of room to grow.

Everyone says B16 swap. Or GSR. I've heard a few say to swap a B20 in. A few say H22, seems everyone is obessed with the DOHC's. K-swaps are way out of the question.

I like torque. Torque is fun. And I daily drive the car and almost never track it. Might get into Auto-X'ing it though.

And when I swap the car, I'm not just dropping the engine in. Thost $2200 have to cover a new timing belt, water pump, plugs/wire/rotor/cap/oil/tranny fluid as well.

So, for $2200 or so, what would you do as far as engine swaps go?

i say build but build up an bare ls block cause there cheap as hell to get a bare one and then buy used performance spring retainers valves and some cams youll make nice power with a good tune, and the block should be fine without better internals unless u had more money to spend on it, you could also port both sides of the head for better air flow get a bigger throttle body and intake manifold and you should have a nive set up

also depending on if u allready had a good engine to build i would just build the one u have cause u could spend 2000 on a build head or you could build your own better for the same price so allways try to work with what you have first ive found that to be cheaper

A D15Bx isn't that great. The rods go out somewhere around 200whp. And it's not that great of a motor.

I'd do what the guy said up there ^^^

Build a bare LS block, VTEC head, GSR/B16 tranny and BAM you'll have an almost 200whp build for about that price.

Call me bias but thats what i did lol My kinda stock LS put out over 150whp with a stock LS head.
