VTEC on Head?
This kid claims he has a VTEc in his 98-00 (Not sure) Civic Ex
though it doesnt say VTEC on the valve cover. Do the VTEC
equipped Exs say VTEC?.

look at the placement of the sparkplugs if they are on the front half of the valve cover its vtec if the back half its not vtec. Also look at the back fo the valve cover on the passenger side of the valve cover if you see 2 sensor looking things (vtec solenoid and vtec oil pressure sensor) then its vtec. There are non vtec valve cover out there that can fool ya.

robster i was making a reference to your post a few minutes earlier. there is no need to repeat what has already been said...hence another way to check. my reasoning was simple: knowing the engine code usually helps to distinguish which engine the car has. even if the head has been changed i always look at the engine code first after looking at the make year and model of the car...by the VIN code...and then go from there. that way you know what was stock in it before and what has since changed (if anything).
