alright i need some opinions...my car is getting up there in miles(almost 100 thousand soon)i live in hernando county and drive to tampa 4 nights a week...I will be swapping out my engine for something else in hopefully less than a year- heres my question...for now would it be worth the time and money to get a 97-98 sohc vtec head and put it on my 95sohc ex engine? I read that this is better for fuel and airbumps compression upwhich means better low-end response. anyone done this?

your best bet would be to pm robster.... but imo i woulndt spend the money on basically the same head.... the newer heads have more of a square shaped combustion chamber design for what im guessing is a better quench area.... the head should bump your compression about .2 and if you dont know what youre doing using the 96+ manifold can be tricky... you most likely wont feel any significant gains from the swap itll just be expensive and a headache... and 100000 miles isnt shit for a honda engine.... i have 180000 on my vx and i havnt been able to blow it up yet!! yes i try to blow it up! i hit rev limiter all day long and beat the hell out of it... its a champion! just save your money for the swap...

youll notice a slight difference. Just make sure you stay obd1 when you do it. Meaning use the obd1 distributor youll have to open up the notch on one of hte dist legs or you can just bolt up 2 of the 3 dist legs. Use the y8 head gasket and youll end up with 9.6:1 CR with that head adn block. Youll have a better cam use your obd1 injectors. Use the y8 intake manifold and fuel rail. Being that youre remaining obd 1 youll probably pick up about 6-10hp depending on condition of your block and the new head. As far as weather or not its worth it? It all boils down to how good of a deal you find on the head. Also make sure you replace the head bolts or else youll be pulling the head to replace the head gasket shortly thereafter. If you have any other questions let me know.
