It sounds like the Starter, try push starting your car and see if it fires right away. Check for bad grounds maybe?

no its not ur starter.its ur clutch pedal switch.its probably not malfunctioning but next time get up there behind the clucth pedal and push the switch in with ur finger and start the car if it starts right away then the switch may just need to be adjusted.this happened to my car it turned out there was a hole in the clutch pedal where it hits the switch.wierd shit.

It cant be the clutch pedal switch because he says it takes a couple try's then it will start. If it was the little plastic piece that broke off and its not hitting the sensor when your step on the clutch then it wouldn't start at all!?! Thats why i was assuming it would be the starter that is going bad.

This happened to my car and it did take a couple of trys to start.I had to to like really stab the clutch in to start it.even if it's not it it's worth a look though.it takes 2 secs to reach behind the clutch and atart it.if it is it he'd save money for a new starter.
If this isn't it then tap on the starter with a hammer

+1, mine had the same prob.
-sometimes i can start it right up
-sometimes i have to reeeally push on the clutch
-sometimes i have to turn the ign. all the way off, then back on

check around the clutch pedal, then the starter
