Some interesting brake booster tid bits...
Well yesterday I started on the rear brake conversion and today I am finishing it up by installing a 98+ Integra MC and booster. The reason I went for the 98+ MC is because the hard line locations on it match perfectly with the routing of the 6th gen Civic lines. I was going to just slap on the 1 MC to my stock booster but I wasnt quite sure about pushrod clearance...so being a little bit pussy and a little bit curious I bought a 98+ teg booster as well.
So now Ive got both the stock booster out and the teg booster sitting right beside it so I decided to do a comparison. When fully compressed the stock boosters pushrod goes quite a bit further (Id say about a quarter of an inch or more) than that of the teg booster rod. I took some pictures so if anyone wants to see the difference I can post em later I guess. Anyways there is a definate pushrod clearance issue between the two boosters. This can however be remedied by adjusting the pushrod clearance but I figure that Id rather buy a whole new booster for 50bucks than spend 100+ on Hondas special clearance tool.
Another interesting note is that the teg booster is a whole hell of a lot firmer but it is also about an inch wider than the stock civic booster. Therefore I had a nasty clearance issue when trying to install it. The D16Y8 intake manifold has some pretty excessive protrusions left from the casting process and one in particular was giving me hell...therefore I busted out the die grinder and put it out of its misery. After that the booster slid in without too much of a hassle.
