The D16Z6 was the SOHC VTEC in the 92-95 ex and si and reads H VTEC on the valve cover. The D16Y8 was in the 96-00 EX and reads HONDA on the valve cover. Not sure about the VTEC-E engines in the 92-95 VX and 96-00 HX.

This is a picture LHT took of a pre-swap 95si so perhaps they used this valve cover for 94-95 and the H VTEC for 92-93?

Im clueless man was it the black valve cover in that first picture? One thing to note the SOHC VTEC valve covers have the spark plugs on the exhaust side whereas the non-VTEC plugs are on the intake side...

92-94 had the black valve cover in the Si and ex and it is a 1.6 v-tec motor. 95 was the only year of the actual v-tec valve cover as far as i know(shown in the second pic)...i used to have the black one and a friend of mine traded a ex in at the dealership(9 and i traded valve covers so mine reads HONDA(96-2000 ex)
