In the future I am looking at doing a LS/Vtec conversion on my engine how much will it or how much should it cost to get a complete B16 , B18C , B18C(R) head thats in pretty good shape ? I know golden eagle sells the conversion kit for for like $280.00 with a gasket and they swear you dont have to deck the block. No machining to block or head so they say.

 

If you want a backyard special, $500-$600. To do it right, I would get a b18a or b18b block, crank, rods, and PR3 pistons (b18a and b18b pistons are fairly low compression PR4's). First, get the block checked and if found to be good, get it cleaned and honed. Second, get the crank checked THEN if found good, get the crank micropolished and mic'd. Third, buy some ARP connecting rod bolts and have them installed onto the rods by a machine shop, very essential. Fourth, have the machine shop press on your new PR3 pistons (bought from RS Machine; they come with rings. Fifth, buy some OEM bearings and reassemble the motor with your choice of head (B16 or B18C1) and head bolts or studs. Of course have the head gone through as well. I would suggest some stage 1 cams, upgraded springs, a nice header, and a nice high-flow cat and axle back to make the most power. This will cost you a good bit though but will be done right.

If done corrctly, this motor will make GREAT power and will last quite a long time.
