they do check motors down here in florida i know ive been stopped so many times and all they asked if i had a stock motor and i said yea nd he asked open the hood ... they check just when you least expect it ... i got the title to my lude to show where my h22 came from .. its always safe to carry something ... cuz if its not the same motor the came factory then the cops automatically say its stolen CUZ YOU GOT NO PAPERS my uncle is a cop and my other uncle is atf soooo they tell me alot of shit... just be safe and get something that says where you bought the motor from even if its a piece of paper sayin i bought this motor which is a b16 etc... from bob on so and so date and get it signed by bob that way he will go down for it not you ...

 

well so what if they check??!! he bought the car already anyways!! so just run it enjoy it and if he is paranoid about it well then sell it.. i dont have papers for my engine if i get stopped and they make me open the hood, i will and just face the consequences im not going to go running now and find a legit swap just cuz one day i can get stop annnd might get the vins checked.. its a risk im willing to take.. ive been stoped many times before(even had my car searched) and never has a vin number question been asked...

 

They can and do check sometimes. Usually you are at the races or doinmg something you shouldn't be doing. Either way they can check and they will impound your car if it comes backl stolen. I have papers for my motor and always will.

 

Heres a thought, without probable cause they can't search your car. If you think your engine is stolen (read as you know your engine is stolen) and they pull you over for speeding and ask to pop the hood tell them to fuck off, or use the ricer excuse "my hood latch is broken". They can't do shit about it, otherwise its an illegal search and all evidence is inadmissible in court.

Well if they have already pulled you over there goes your probable cause,its just like takeing a breathTest they have the right to pop the hood..

 

What? No. Speeding is not probable cause for a vehicle search. If you have a weapon, or some paraphernalia on you, then they can search your car. If you're just speeding, skreet racing, being pulled over for exhaust or stereo noise, no seat belt, etc. they can't search unless you consent to a search, and you should never consent to a search.

 

i call the cops and asked them to check the numbers on the motor i bought last time i bought one, it took like 45sec. and they were happy to do so


better yet grind the motor numbers off and polish the area they were at, or stamp an extra number on it. cops don't know if JAP motor have vin. numbers
