Default How much HP can you get into a civic?

I'm looking around for my first project car and doing some research by asking the people who do it the most, you guys. So if I decided to do a honda civic how much HP could I really get into it? I'm a muscle guy BUT my funds cannot support my love but I want to learn! What are your guy's suggestions? Thanks!

Goals are just mainly high performance..fast speeds..mainly going to be used as a street car and maybe hit the tracks every here and there.

You forgot the extra 0 in that 50hp statement...a conservative 500whp should do the trick

you can get as much as 1000hp in all reality.

depends on how much $$$ you want to spend and what method you use to get there.

When you say "track," I assume you're not talking about the kind with turns...

how much power and still be streetable? as much as the clutch you want to use can hold back. but you have to remember that accellerating from a red light with a 1000hp clutch will suck balls....especially if there are cops around.

1000 is a little much, anything over 250 would be more than enough for a little civic. What kind of engine do you guys suggest? Etc?

b18a1 boost, b18b1 boost, b20b boosted, b20z boosted, b16 boosted...any honda motor, even the d-series, will net you close to or above 250whp once boosted and properly tuned.
