Main Relay Clicking on and off

Just wondering if anyone knows about why this would happen. It starts once or twice then clicks on and off. Making the fuel pump turn on and off. Just trying to get some answer. Thanks TR.

will it run? or it shuts off and stays off?
sounds like the relay is bad

The relay clicks on when you turn the key on, turning on the fuel pump, then clicks off when fuel pressure is reached, turning off the fuel pump. It will do this again the next time the key is turned on, running only as long as it takes to reach pressure (or not at all if pressure is already maxed out) clicking off again.

The first time i start it, it will stay running for a min or so then after that the relay clicks off and on repeatedly, not allowing for it to start again.

Relay clicking on and off usually means bad relay, or not enough voltage to keep it "on".

If want to know why the relay goes bad, well its actually a manufacturing fault, the solder joints usually become loose from the vibrations in the car, this used to be a problem with older relays and Honda had issued a service bullitan about it back in the days, if you get a new relay that should happen again, or you can re solider it your self.
