so i take it you couldnt turn the motor with a socket on the crank?

yeah it wouldnt turn over at all. my boy k-mart came over and looked at it and tried to turn it from the crank pulley bolt. then i came in and saw what you said about putting it in the tranny first. i didnt even realize that. so i pulled it all back apart and put it together the right way. its running perfect now. thanks for everybodys help
