Exclamation B18 w/Msd Starting issue

I've got a b18b1 in my 94 hatch, I just installed an msd ignition in it. It fired up and ran fine for a bit then it just quit. I poked around and found that my fuel pump was'nt kicking on, I checked the voltage at the pump with the key on. nothing. So I ran a jumper wire from pins 5to7 and it turns on with power from the switch. I was thinking the main relay was bad. Picked up a new one from honda. No luck. I swapped everything back to stock just to see if I may have screwed something up during the install, Still no start. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Solution: Remove the msd ignition & return the igniton system back to stock.
We have seen cars make over 600 whp on stock ignition without a single problem.
Use oem honda replacement parts for the ignition system.

You stated that the ingnition system was back to stock. Look at the wires you tapped into. Something's deff narking on metal, you've got your self a short.

I was thinking a short, but what could have I tapped into that would affect the fuel pump from kicking on? The wires that you use are off the coil positive/negative. Could the trigger wire have done this? Thanks guys.

If there's a short in the signal wire that starts the distributor from functioning (coil), then the fuel pump wont prime. I've even had a map sensor short, and prevent the car from turning over. Just look for open wire, and if it's not real "deep" then tape it up. Splices do allot of damage to the wires their attached to.

The worst splices to use are the ones that are square, squeezed together and a small flap clips over the top. Not only do they corrode over time and cause intermittent electrical problems, but sometimes slice through the wire
strands.....this is probably what SstreetBlitz is talking about.

The best splices are the ones where the wires touch, are dipped into no-oxide grease and are crimped together with a quality, non-cheap crimping tool....and even then, the crimp is best when it comes in from the back instead of the side.

And even better is to solder, and heat shrink the wire....... -Bob
