Default SOHC turbo ?'s

I have a d16 from a crx Si. I was wandering what was recommended to do to the rods? I have vitara pistons and i'll be running 8lbs tuned on the motor. I'm not sure what I should do to the stock rods over buying h-beam rods which I don't have money for. Also what should I do to the head? I'm having it ported out to the fulllest now, but I'm not sure what else I should have done? I don't want to put too much into it, but I want it to last for a little while, be pretty descent fast, and pretty much reliable. ANy info. will be appreciated, thanks TR

The stock rods should hold up to around 200hp. But if you're going to open it up to replace the pistons with the low compression Suzuki ones, just save a little bit more and pick up some Tuner Toy rods. They're not that expensive and will save you the worry later on.

the stock rods should be fine for that little bit of boost, but if you want a reliable car, dont boost it

Do not put those pistons on those rods. Half assing a project will only result in future problems. If your porting the head, throw in a cam too. If your replacing the pistons, throw in rods too. Just save for a few more months. It will be well worth it in the end.

+1 to the above.. ohh and as far as the head thing.. I was at clearwater cylinder head this afternoon and I might end up taking my head there to be rebuilt, port and polished, and get a nice valve job done for a decent price. Im gonna ask around first but I would give them a call if I was you.. if youre lookin to get work done on your head.

Why do people say this?!? My 98 coupe had Greddy kit on stock Y8 for 70k miles with NO issues what so ever and right before I sold it with 149k miles it dynod 240/225. Drove it 80 miles a day every day and got 31 mpg. Just gotta know what you are doing and its completly reliable.

Your compression will be miserable with those pistons on stock rods and the rods are the weak points anyway. No use in putting pistons on them. Also the tuner toys rods will take a bit of work to fit them in which unless you have the tooling will require money.. for the price difference go to FJT and get custom length ibeams to bump your compression back up to a reasonable level in the 8's. Also on just about any turbo you use 8psi isnt going to break the stock rods.
