my son in law has a 97 integra with 130,000 miles on it.just recently his cluch is not working correctly.he says its sometimes hard to shift.one shop wants to replace the clutch,resurface the flywheel,and replace the clutch slave cylinder.im thinking replace the slave cylinder first and see if that fixes it...other opinions?

 

when the car shifts hard, try pumping the pedal....if it then shifts easy you need a slave

 

well if since you stated miles, im guessing the clutch is pretty old. I'd drop the transmission and just replace the clutch and sand the flywheel. take about 4 hours taking your time.

 

Replace the slave cylinder, remove all old fluid, and bleed off the system. I would also recommend that you get the transmission fluid changed and either replace it with 10w-40 Mobil 1 or Honda MTF.

 

just replace the clutch. its time, not that big of a deal
