Stroking the LS block is a drag racing motor tactic. It results in horrible rod/stroke ratios and a motor that wears out quickly.
It's a power play, and not something you want to do to a car that is expected to do regular street duty.
If you try to improve the ratios by adding a deck plate, raising piston pins to the max and using longer rods, etc, then you start to get into some costly mods that may not be what he wants.

if you want the max out of natural aspiration: lighten and balance the engine, port and polish heads, high comp pistons, short ram, and exaust. you'd kick a lot of a$$

Get some head work done and you can use stock ls stroke and high comp pistons and make good numbers all motor.

B18C block, LS crank, LS rods and PR3 style pistons. I've never built a motor like that but i heard it will make nice numbers and if assembled correctly, it will last a while too.
