I was wondering if the PR3 pistons are exactly the same as the P30 pistons, Im doing an LS/Vtec swap, and have acquires 3
JDM Pr3 pistons, and 2 P30 pistons, from what I have researched, they are the same, just stamped differently. In anyone opinion will I run into any problems if I use 2 Pr3, and 2 P30's?

And does anyone know someone who has the vtec conversion kit, used or new just never used, IE: sandwich plate, oil line, dowels, etc

They are not the same. Little more dome volume in the p30s, which provide a little more compression as a result.

 

I know they seem the same but why would honda go through the trouble of categorizing them as different (hence the model numbers) if they were EXACTLY the same?

 

no. pr3 and p30 pistons are really different. p30 pistons, when used in the place of pr3 pistons with no other work other than swapping them out, will gain your motor a little bit of compression. though I am not sure on how much, I do know that it will not be safe to run 2 pr3's and say 2 p30's.

moral of the story, DONT MIX THEM. use 4 pr3's or 4 p30's. question answered.

 

WTF is up with ppl lol why would u buy 2 pistons? or even 3? stock cast pistons are cheap, go buy a set from ebay or something for $150 with rings and forget about mixing and match....ughhhh i'm tired of everyone trying to go fast for $2....
