Stumbles...then moves
This is a stock 93 Cx...yeah the all mighty 70 hp. My friend is going to do a swap as soon as next semester rolls around (yeah financial aid). He just got the car back from his brother (2 yrs) and the car stumbles when you mash the gas...it does run after about 4.5k. However if you slowly accelerates the car runs smoothly. Is there any thing I should check for? Like fuel filter etc? Yes this is the slowest car Ive been in.
BTW: Anyone selling a obd1 B18B swap sometime during Jan?
Thanks yall.

I was having a similar problem turned out to be the dist. All I did was take the distributor cap and rotor off then took a wire brush to the electrical connections on the icm (might as well all 4 or 5 of them while youre in there) and put it back together. Before starting the car back up take the plugs out and either clean the electrode with the wire brush or just replace the plugs. Start it up and let it idle for a while. I did this and when it started up it was running rough for about 3 minutes (I guess all the sputtering caused either a lot of carbon or a lot of fuel or both) and then it smoothed out. Good luck.

I wouldnt just clean it and be done with it. Look for the reason as to why the contacts got corroded. Check to make sure the distributer cap is sealed properly and also Id take this time to replace the rotor since they tend to get heavily carbon streaked when the ignition components dont opererate properly.
I understand what youre saying its just that my roommate is just as sick as I am with the CX motor. We just needed a temporary fix for a month or two until tuition money comes in. He doesnt want to put any money into that motor. LS swap or LS/VTEC soon. Thanks for all the replies...appreciate it.
