Default is this normal after timing belt changed?

okay if you guys have read my previous thread my car has been in a shop for 3 days.

every time i accelerate it does not feel as powerful as it did when i had my old timing belt on....

like idk if its just because i have not driven it in 3 days or because the timing belt needs to be "broken in" or something?

any help here TR?

-Ben

generally itl run better after a new timing belt bc it will be back in time (ie when the belt stretches the timing retards a bit, it should be more advanced now). recheck your dizzy/cam timing to make sure its on. but a butt dyno isnt really the best way to determine if a car is down on power.

You're the kid whose father took it to that shop, right? I bet they retarded it on purpose. I would first check your mechanical timing. I'm sure you probably don't know how to do that but you may be able to get some help from someone in your area. If that is off make it right and then set the dizzy to factory specs. Or right now, check your electronic timing to see where it is set.

if they only changed the timing belt, they should not have had to do anything to the distributor timing. and they really should not have had to move the cams. but if u wanna check the timing, just make sure all the marks line up on the cams and the crank pully.you could be a tooth off but if its stock cam gears i dont see that being possible.

if this is the same shop as mentioned before....burn it to the ground.

and then check your timing....there should be no noticable differance after a timing belt is changed....unless it wasnt running before.

put the engine at top dead center and check your cams timing marks. sounds like it may be a tooth off.
