ok so the other day i went to put a gel battery in my car w/ the prices on those i opted for a used one... a week after i got it my battery died, so i went to the place and i got a replacement... well now my sound system is bogging again like it has no charge and is turning off so i had the car on, in front of my house and i took the negative out of the battery and it shot off the whole thing.. now my question is when i got the second battery i took off the negative and the car did not shot off, but now it did and with the other battery when it was dying it shot off too (when i took off the negative).. is this def my alternator??? or could it be something else??.. please help me so i can buy the right part and have my car on the road again thank you guys..

turn ure car on and hook up a multimeter to your battery and watch to see if the voltage drops. should take about 3 min or so. if that happens check your connections on ure alternator, if its all good then its ure alternator. u could take ure battery and alternator to pep boys snd thyll test em for free. fyi gl

sounds like the alt cause while the car is running it is running off the battery and will eventually drain the battery which is what happened when you disconnected he neg terminal. the altenator is not doing its job which is to recharge the battrery..but as always check the simpler things first loose terminal bad corroded wire and things of that nature...good luck.

 

checked everything it is the alternator.. ... but not to worry i got one out of the parts 4 sale forum already.. updates soon...
