well oyu can go to Discount Auto and RENT one. It should be about $45.oo but when you are done with it you just return it and get your money back. but it can be done without a compressor. Just put your foot on the spring and SLOWLY unbolt the top bolt. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE WEARING EYE PROTECTION. and then watch were the bolt flys. I do recomment that you do close your eyes as well just for added protection. If you have any more questions let me know.

There is a trickway that u can use the weight of the car to do this I did it with the first car i ever fixed up and it worked fine. But I got a cheap manual spring compressor and it saves alot of time and energy. And is safer.

Thats crazy!!!!! I would NEVER do that. Not with the way those bolts fly off. Buy a compressor. Nuff said.

just undo the top bolts while theyre on the car still. then when you drop your suspension its already apart. dotn wait untill after you pulled the shock off.

damn i never thought of doing it this way..
me and ustin usually do it the way b16apwr did it except we use a recycling bin...that way the spring bolt and top of the strut go into the bin..its completely safe..as long as you have your foot on the stut.

My civic was particularly easy. We had no problem taking off the rear and front springs. Just used a heavy cardboard box up against a wall with one person loosening the nut with an air wrench and the other using a hefty pair of pliers holding the center of the spring so that it wouldnt go flying. Takes some bicep strenght to hold one of them bitches from flying(especially the front ones). We got the new springs on the rear shocks with no problem but had to get a compressor to get the fronts on the struts. 2hr job.

Well it seems as thought 6 year old rusted bolts arent so easy to remove so i will have to either just choke down and pay to get a install or find someone that is hella stronger then me and rip those bolts off. Unless someone has air tools. =)

I forgot to add that i WD40ed the HELL out of these bolts till i ran outta the stuff no luck.
